As a child I grew up cooking and baking for fun, gradually working my way through my mum’s recipe book from fairy cakes and apple pies to bonfire toffee and meringues. A perfect way to spend a rainy Sunday afternoon.
Whilst working in payroll for more than ten years – I continued to bake for pleasure but the inspiration which would eventually turn into ‘SugarCloud Cakes’ came as my daughter was approaching her first birthday. I decided to make the birthday cake myself – and chose a fairly ambitious standing teddy bear as the theme. With a little help from my own mum, the creation was a triumph – and before long, I was regularly being asked by friends and family to make all kinds of celebration cakes – for weddings, anniversaries, birthdays and christenings.
I soon added corporate events to my portfolio and in 2012 I took the leap of faith to leave my job to concentrate on Sugarcloud Cakes.
